Meet Dr. Keith Van Horn

Lifetimes of Healthy Smiles

Being a dentist is professionally and personally rewarding. I am able to move a person out of pain, restore the ability to chew properly, change a smile, and build lasting relationships that go beyond provider and patient. My “work” doesn’t feel like a job. Instead, my days are filled with interesting conversations, the opportunity to improve lives, and time with wonderful people.

I’m a firm believer that people should understand the importance of oral health. I know that the more people know about their mouth, how what happens in it affects the rest of their body and vice versa, and how to care for it, the better off they will be. I want our patients to have a lifetime of health: both overall and for their smile!

I entered the dental field knowing I wanted to make a difference in the well-being, health, and happiness of others. I graduated from dental school in 2005, joined our practice, and have never doubted the wisdom of my decision! I love getting to know our patients on a personal level, and creating a trusting relationship with each. Hearing their stories, and sharing in their lives, keeps my days full and rewarding.

Our Team and Practice

Each of our team members brings unique skills and experience to our practice. Together, we’re united in our goal to make each patient feel welcome, comfortable, and safe, regardless of the reason for their visit. While we are educated and professional, we never forget the all-essential human aspect of dentistry. We believe in having fun and offering a positive, supportive environment where patients are cared for as family.

Education and Continuing Education

  • Undergraduate degree in biology – University of Kansas
  • Doctorate of Dental Surgery – University of Missouri-Kansas City

I attend multiple continuing education meetings and complete many courses each year. It’s exciting to be practicing dentistry now: advances in technologies and techniques allow us to provide amazing care and incredible results, painlessly!

In addition to attending conferences and lectures, I’m a member of the Spear Education Study Club. These monthly meetings bring together oral healthcare colleagues and peers to discuss and learn from case studies. Collaborative learning means the best treatment for our patients.

Professional Memberships

Beyond the Office

After growing up in Wichita, I now call Lawrence my home. My wife Melissa and I are enjoying raising our twin daughters, Avery and Claire, and our sons, Lawson and Benjamin, in this wonderful community.

When I’m not caring for patients, I love quality time with my family, especially when we’re enjoying the outdoors. I also like attending games at the University of Kansas, cheering for the Kansas City Royals, golfing, and fly fishing.

In addition, I’m part of the Jayhawk Breakfast Rotary Club and serve on the board for the Douglas County Dental Clinic.
